The Edible Beauty Sustainability Ethos

At Edible Beauty Australia, we aspire to create a range of the highest level of therapeutic and pure skincare that is friendly to both humans and the earth.

Our sustainability policy is our Green Beauty Ethos, featuring environmentally friendly pledges like onshore production in Australia, recyclable packaging, and use of sustainable, wildcrafted ingredients.

It is this ethical standpoint which drives all of our decision-making processes. In it we pledge that Edible Beauty Australia minimises its impact on the environment wherever possible.

We are committed to becoming more sustainable the more we grow and believe that taking care of the environment is everyone's responsibility, including all of our staff and our customers.

We take care of the earth in the following ways:

Our Ingredients

Edible Beauty Australia pledges to always provide the highest level of “edible” purity, limiting exposure to synthetic and toxic chemicals. We leave out all of the nasties including: Parabens, Silicones, Benzyl Peroxide, PEGs, Petroleum Derivatives, Mineral Oils, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Artificial Dyes & Fragrances, Talc, Nano-Particles and Harsh Additives.

We promote the use of sustainable and wildcrafted organic ingredients where there is a trustworthy and suitable source. Alternately we use natural ingredients from pollution-free sources.

We restrict the use of palm oil in our products, where a palm oil-free alternative is not available we use responsibly produced, sustainable sources of palm oil.

Our Packaging

Our aim is to find a way to provide 100% recyclable and biodegradable packaging for our skincare, tea and wellness products.

The majority of our skincare is packaged in glass which is recyclable. Products not packaged in glass, along with parts such as pumps and caps that cannot be collected in local council recycling bins, can be recycled through Terra Cycle, our recycling partner (program available in April 2020). More information on this program will be available shortly.

Our tea jars are also recyclable and our tea bags are made of biodegradable rice paper. We are working on a reuse and refill program which will further minimise all waste associated with using our skincare products.

We are also working on ensuring all of our wellness products are packaged in biodegradable pouches. At the time of creation, sustainable packaging was not available for these products. Having now identified suitable biodegradable pouches, we will be transitioning our Gut Replenish and Native Collagen pouches to sustainable versions.

The outer cartons that house our skincare products are initially made of recycled and sustainable fibre and are also 100% recyclable.

We limit our impact on the environment in all areas of our operations, be it in our shipping, warehouse or packaging. Our mailer parcels are recyclable and filled with bio-fill, packaging "foam" that is made of 100% biodegradable cellulose starch.

Our Messaging

At Edible Beauty Australia, we are passionate about spreading the word on living in an environmentally conscious way, partnering with other sustainable companies, encouraging creative "up-cycling" of our empty skincare bottles and tea jars, and sharing content that inspires everyone to minimise their individual carbon footprint.

In times of environmental disasters, we are proud to actively raise funds to support relief efforts. During the recent Australian bushfire crisis, we donated over $10,000 to charities providing both human and animal relief efforts.
