5 Health & Wellness Experts Share Their Go-To Health and Detox Tips

Spring is here! As we are coming out of the slump that was winter, there is no better time than now to really kickstart your health and wellbeing regime and get yourself on track to being your happiest and healthiest self!

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of talking to five of our favourite health and wellness gurus to find out their go-to detox or health tip for spring! Here’s what they had to share…

Anna Mitsios – Naturopath, nutritionist and founder of Edible Beauty

My favourite detox tip is to up the ante on your fibre intake. Surprisingly, the majority of us do not reach our daily intake of 30 grams of fibre. I recommend making the effort to incorporate: 3 cups of vegetables (eg broccoli, carrots, zucchini, green beans, sweet potato, pumpkin, asparagus, peas etc), 1 cup of whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, millet, oats etc), 3 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and a serve of fruit daily to increase your fibre intake. You will not only feel more satiated, but your digestive system will also start to clear out a lot of waste, your hormones will balance, and your skin will benefit very quickly!

Jennifer Murrant – Nutritionist, and co-founder of Healthy Luxe

Spring is probably the easiest time to eat seasonal produce as this season brings a plentiful supply of fresh, colourful fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are abundant with nutrients which are essential to give our bodies the best chance of staying well, as well as helping to strengthen our immune systems - never has this been more important. Therefore, our top Spring tip would have to be incorporating as much seasonal produce (organic where possible) into your diet, both raw and cooked, as well as staying hydrated!

Julie Mitsios – Raw food chef, and founder of Earth to Table

When it comes to detoxing, my recommendation is to get creative and innovative with your food preparation.
Try raw zucchini pasta as a substitute to traditional wheat-based pasta,  use raw cacao for healthy chocolate treats and stevia, monk fruit, or coconut syrup when making something sweet. Do not deprive yourself when detoxing as it is possible to enjoy nourishing treats. For a sweet pick me up when detoxing, my Raw Crackle and Crunch treats to hit the spot without spiking your sugars or sabotaging your detox goals.

Cathy Tolpigin – Organic makeup artist and founder of The Green Edit

Spring brings sunshine, warmer and longer days, It’s the perfect time to reset and renew and implement a few holistic wellness practices. I am really enjoying early morning pilates, bush walks in my local area and the refreshing Edible Beauty Beauty Dew to kickstart my day (mixed into sparkling water - my favourite).

Tia Miers – Naturopath specialising in women’s health and hormones

Reset your digestive system! A 1-3-day vegetable juice cleanse is a wonderful way to give your digestive system a break and detox your body.

Another one of my favourite tips is to take a break from technology for the weekend. Turning off notifications can do wonders for your mind. Constantly being “switched on” with constant social media messages, texts, phone calls and emails can activate the stress response and increase your feelings of distraction.
