Description

Bask in the beauty of our pure, ocean-friendly sunscreen formula providing broad spectrum SPF50 UVA/UVB protection with zinc oxide. This moisturising, age-defying sunscreen effortlessly glides onto the skin easily and is enriched with Vitamin E and Rosehip Oil to nourish the skin and provide a hydration boost. Basking Beauty is the ultimate plant-based, botanical and luxurious sunscreen.

Key Actives

Zinc Oxide: provides physical broad spectrum sun protection without the skin irritation or hormone disruption found in chemical sunscreens. Camellia Seed Oil: a light-weight phyto active oil abundant in fatty acids to calm and hydrate skin.
Vitamin E: potent antioxidant, assisting with the reduction of redness and oxidative stress within the skin.

This product is packaged in recyclable “bioplastic” tubes made from sugar cane resin.

If you are used to using conventional chemical formulas, you may notice this natural sunscreen differs as it does rely on creating a physical barrier on top of the skin to protect you from UV rays. As a result it takes a little more time to massage into the skin, however, we believe doing this is well worth the benefits of non-toxic sun protection. Botanical Actives

Zinc Oxide is a natural, physical sunscreen which creates a layer on top of skin that blocks ultraviolet rays like UVA1, UVA2 and UVB. It is stable in chlorine and will not degrade to cause harmful free radicals, skin irritation or hormone disruption. This is as opposed to chemical SPFs which absorb them before they can cause any harm. Zinc Oxide helps to keep moisture locked into the skin.

Camellia Seed Oil provides exceptional hydration and absorption without greasiness. It is abundant in vitamins C, D, and E along with Omega 6 and 9 and anti-ageing polyphenols, which provide deep nourishment to your skin, youth-preserving actions and a velvety smooth finish.

Vitamin E One of the key antioxidants when it comes to sun protection, Vitamin E works to neutralise free radicals caused by exposure to UV light and other collagen-damaging molecules. It also assists in absorbing UVB light, the spectrum of sunlight that’s responsible for burning and ageing skin.

Kakadu Plum Extract Kakadu Plum is native to Australia and known for being the highest plant-based source of Vitamin C. This makes this wild-harvested botanical exceptional for boosting collagen production, combating free radical damage and providing photoprotection from UV A and B damaging light.

Rosehip Seed Oil Rosehip Seed Oil is one of the richest plant-based sources of beta-carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A and our skin’s natural battalion when it comes to fighting the signs of ageing. Considered a cellular regenerative oil, Rosehip is known for its ability to enhance skin repair and reduce inflammation.

Application & ingredients

Application

Apply evenly onto the skin as the last step in your skincare routine 20 minutes prior to sun exposure. Use a small amount of the cream and rub in well. Re-apply every 90 minutes and at regular intervals especially after swimming, exercise or towel drying. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and contact with eyes. Suitable for face and body. Also suitable for children and babies. *Note makeup can be used on top of this sunscreen if desired.

We batch make all of our natural skincare and use pure Australian wildcrafted extracts that may differ in colour and texture based on season and region they are harvested from.

As a result, this product may vary in colour, texture and fragrance from batch to batch. This does not impact the efficacy of the product and each contains the same amount of active ingredients.

The volume of sunscreen in the tube is 100 grams. The extra air in the tube is deliberate and is required to squeeze/emulsify the formula which can sometimes separate.

This sunscreen has been a lifesaver for me. I have very reactive, sensitive skin, to the point that even most products made for sensitive skin still cause a reaction.
I’ve tried so many sunscreens from chemist ones, Korean sunscreens and many natural zinc oxide ones, but they all seemed to dry my skin out or leave me raw red and inflamed. I truly felt like I had tried everything and nothing worked. I was so desperate to find something that would suit my skin.

Natural sunscreen

Probably the best consistency I've tried for a natural sunscreen and not greasy at all. It took me a little to warm up to the lemon sent. The sunscreen worked for myself Olive skin but unfortunately didn't for my son and husband with pale skin . They got quite burnt . It was applied before going to beach, not sure if surf rubbed it off but was disappointed to see as wanted this to work for all the family. Probably the best sunscreen in texture though to apply under makeup

Questions & answers

Is this to be used in conjunction with moisturizer or in place of? Asking for my oily skin folks...

We recommend that you continue to use a moisturiser prior to your sunscreen application. This gives your skin the optimal nourishment, hydration and antioxidant boost required on a daily basis. For oily skin, the Soothing Nectar - Hydrating Gel is the perfect choice as it contains oil balancing botanicals. Wait for a minute for this to dry before applying the Basking Beauty Sunscreen.

Do you use nano-particles in your sunscreen?

We have chosen the highest quality zinc oxide that we have been able to source for our sunscreen. We use microfine or micronised particles in our sunscreen. Microfine particles are smaller than those used in conventional white zinc sunscreens, however are larger than nano-particles- usually in the range of 100 to 2500 nanometres. Note that nano particles are smaller than 100 nanometres. We do not use nano particles in the sunscreen.

What percentage of zinc oxide does this have?

The percentage of the zinc is 22.7%.

Can you use the basking beauty sunscreen under makeup? Thank you.

Yes definitely! Mineral makeup used over the sunscreen is fantastic for creating a matt finish.

It will not impact the performance of the sunscreen.

Will this disrupt any makeup/foundation throughout the day? Is this suitable for oil skin types? When including this in my regular routine, what would be the order in which I'd need to use it? I use nothing but Edible Beauty products for my day/night routine.

It is best to complete your skincare routine, apply makeup and then follow with sunscreen as the last step in your beauty routine.

Can this be used on toddlers?

Yes definitely - it is suitable for babies and children

Does it protect from Blue Light?

The sunscreen can definitely help with blue light due to the zinc oxide which provides "physical" protection against UV and HEV rays.

The other product I recommend is our Glowing Skin Smoothe Serum as that works as an "anti-pollution" product providing a high level of antioxidants to combat free radical damage from blue light.

My sunscreen tube seems to have a lot of air?

This is normal! Do not worry, the volume of sunscreen in the tube is 100 grams. The extra air in the tube is deliberate and is required to squeeze/emulsify the formula which can sometimes separate.

Is this sunscreen TGA approved?

Yes, our Basking Beauty SPF50 Sunscreen is TGA approved!!! You can find the number on the bottom of the tube.
