Here Edible Beauty founder, inside out beauty expert and naturopath Anna Mitsios has answered our most commonly asked skincare questions to help you achieve your most radiant, flawless skin.
How do I get started on a toxin-free skincare routine?
Getting started on a toxin-free skincare routine should be an easy and fun process! Do not feel as though you need to throw away everything that you own. Make a start with the products that you are using most frequently and on large areas of your body such as your cleanser, lotion and body cream and then replace your other products as you use them up.

How do I get rid of adult acne?

What should I use for my eye area?
Our & Gold Rush Eye Balm
is what we use! It contains 24k gold leaf along with coffee extract and is wonderful for brightening, de-puffing and refining the under eye area.
Do you use sunscreen on top of the No. 4 lotion?
Our No.4 Vanilla Silk Hydrating Lotion
tinted version both contain natural sun protection from black and red raspberry seed oil so I don't use a sunscreen if mainly indoors. I do recommend using a natural sunscreen on top if you are in direct sun for more than 20 minutes.
Is it actually possible to minimise pores?
I recommend using an exfoliant twice a week. Make sure it has natural alpha hydroxy acids to unclog pores. I also suggest using a purifying mousse or gentle clay mask which draws out impurities from the pores to help minimise them. Our & Sleeping Beauty Purifying Mousse works effectively to do this.
What is the difference between a serum and oil? Do I need both?
Serums are antioxidant and nutrient rich product which unlike a lotion and face oil are water-based. The particles of a serum are tiny and designed to easily penetrate into the skin to maximise their therapeutic benefits. I recommend a serum if you are over 25, if you are wanting a product to address pigmentation or if you are wanting to ensure your skin is protected from the damaging effects of UV light. Face oils are designed to provide the skin with extra hydration and nutrition. They have slightly larger molecules so will not penetrate the skin as deeply. I recommend using a nourishing face oil with a combination of omega and vitamin c rich oils if you have dry skin, sensitive skin, dull or lack lustre skin or pigmentation.
Can the Core Four be used on any skin type?

What foods should I be eating to enhance my glow?
I recommend increasing your intake of greens along with fibre and antioxidant rich low GI fruits. I always recommend aiming for 3 cups of salad greens, especially the bitter ones daily (eg rocket, dandelion leave, radicchio) along with 3 cups of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, asian greens, cabbage, kale and cauliflower. I also find that a tablespoon of flaxseed meal daily gets wonderful results with my clients. The flax fibre removes unwanted toxins and hormones which wreak havoc with the skin. Australian natives, berries and vitamin C rich fruits and vegetables ensure you are getting an abundance of vitamin C to support healthy collagen production and fight free radicals (our Native Collagen Powder is a concentrated source of vitamin C which makes it easy to get these antioxidants in). A good way to do this is by having a green smoothie daily -1- 2 cups of kale, 1 cup of berries, 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal, 1 kiwi fruit, 1 teaspoon of native collagen powder along with 2 cups of coconut water is a very basic but nutrient and beauty vitamin rich smoothie idea.
What is your number one tip for those who suffer from rosacea?
I recommend working from the inside out, healing the gut as a start. Avoiding histamines and taking gut healing and immune boosting herbs and supplements such as turmeric, liquorice and slippery elm are a great start. On the outside, work to build the resilience of the skin barrier using fatty acid rich botanicals such as camellia seed and shea butter, found in our & Coco Bliss Intensive Repair.

Will a cream cleanser be effective enough if I have oily skin or breakouts?

What can I do to brighten my skin? It looks so dull at the moment!
I would start by adding a brightening face oil into your skincare routine. We get beautiful results with our & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil
. I would also make sure any products you use are free of nasties and not drying or stripping your skin, as this can make it look lacklustre easily. Start to exfoliate using a gentle exfoliant two to three times a week and use a hydrating mask, such as our & Coco Bliss Intensive Repair

Does your cleanser remove makeup, including mascara?
Our No.1 Belle Frais Cleansing Milk
does remove light makeup, including eye makeup. For best results, massage the cleanse onto dry skin and the emulsify with water, removing with a wash cloth. Double cleanse and tone if you are using more makeup. If your eye makeup is heavy, use an oil such as our & Snowflower Illuminating Face Oil
to remove - simply apply a few drops onto cotton wool and dab gently to take it off.
What is good for pimples and breakouts on your face, forehead, etc?
